Review of Practice Theories Clinical 3 CEUS – IN PERSON

This presentation on Practice Theories is intended for Master level and Advanced Social work Clinicians who work directly with consumers and is intended for three hours of clinical education. The practice models discussed are frequently used and are models that professional social work practitioners should be familiar with. This information on practice models was designed to help Master Levels social workers to become more familiar with models that they may see on their test examination and to help advanced clinicians to enhance and refreshen their skill set and competence with each model. The models that we will review and discuss look at today are the following: Behavioral Therapy Models, Humanistic, Person Centered, Gestalt, Trans. (Cognitive Transactional Analysis (TA), Reality Therapy and (REBT).

 

Objective:
  • Participants will increase their knowledge of a minimum of eight evidenced based and often used practice models in social work practice, Behavioral Therapy Models, Humanistic, Person Centered, Gestalt, (Cognitive Transactional Analysis (TA), Reality Therapy and (REBT).
  • Attendees will learn the overview of each model, goals of treatment, role of the clinician, Norman development, development of behaviors and application of each model.
  • Participants will increase their understanding of each model Key Concepts and Terminology associated with each model, Techniques specific to each model and some criticism of each model.
  • Participants will be encouraged to participate in discussion of each practice model and offer any critical insight they may have.
